Design in the Festival is a great book that gives an overall view of design in 1950's Britain and includes many of the items that were featured in the various exhibitions at the Festival.

It was published by The Council of Industrial Design and is sub-titled an "illustrated review of British Goods".

The book has a general introduction and then has a series of articles on the various areas of design. In addition there are many pages of photographs of examples of good design, these cover a wide variety of areas both domestic and industial, work and recreation. The aim was to illustrate the quality of British Design in the post-war years and it is a very good review of 1950's design.

The book has 132 pages overall plus covers and the vast majority feature photographs of designs that were considered to be good examples at that time. Some of the items featured I do have for sale elsewhere on this web site. There are 36 pages of adverts by prominent companies of the period.

Some wear on the spine and corners and a couple of small tears on the back cover but otherwise it is in good condition.
