These cigarette boxes probably date from the 1930's or 40's and are very stylish designs as they are from a time when smoking was very fashionable. They all have black lower sections with off white urea formaldehyde lids. These were made in a range of designs and boxes with different pictures on the lids can be found.

The first box has a windmill design on the lid. This design was moulded into the lid and then lightly overpainted with grey. There is some slight scratching to the paint. It is 112 x 82mm, excluding hinges and 52mm high. There is a very tiny 'nibble' on the back of one hinge otherwise good condition.

The second box has a galleon design on the lid. This design is more heavily moulded than the first box and is in a single colour. The lower section of the box is nicely ribbed on the corners. It is 122 x 89mm, excluding hinges and 59mm high. There is an indent on one hinge and this seems to be from the time of manufacture rather than later damage, otherwise good condition. The design is probably by A H (Woody) Woodfull who is perhaps the best known designer in plastic of the period

The third box is now sold.

These boxes are good examples of design from their period.
