The Official Handbook for Torquay published by the Torquay Corporation, Chamber of Commerce and the Hotel and Caterers Association. It was published in 1948.

The guide book has a total of 100 pages, plus card covers. It features information on the town and surrounding areas and includes numerous colour and black & white photographs. The events for the Carnival Week are shown together with the dates for the yacht races of the Olympic Games, which took place that year in Torbay.

There are 63 pages of adverts for hotels, guest houses and local businesses. A table at the back lists the prices charged by the various hotels etc, the most expensive was The Imperial Hotel where the cost for a weeks stay was 16gns. The guide also includes a map with a street plan of the town on one side and a route map for the Devon General Omnibus Co on the other.

Size 230 x 180mm. There is some creasing to the corners of the pages but overall the guide book is in good condition.
