Advertising card for Grove House, Weston Super Mare

Advertising card for Grove House Weston Super Mare
Grove House Boarding House, Weston Super Mare

This is an advertising card for the Grove House, a Boarding House that used to be in Grove Park, Weston-Super-Mare. It was presumably issued by the owners to attract customers and gives brief details of the location of the Boarding House and the facilities. Prospective guests were to apply to Miss Day who presumably was the housekeeper.

There is no date on the card but from the overall appearance I would estimate that it dates from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Grove Park was acquired by the town in 1889 and so at the time this was published Grove House was probably owned by the Town Council. The house no longer exists as it was bombed in WW2 and demolished in 1954.

Size 115 x 90mm on thin card. It is printed on both sides of the card. There is some slight wear to the corners but otherwise it is in good condition. Overall a nice item of Weston Super Mare ephemera.
